“The Artists opened a window of refined, sophisticated playing in the sonatas by Boismortier and the “Berlin” or “Hamburg” Bach, reaching harmony of rarely emotional but well controlled ascends.”
VEČERNJI LIST, Branko Magdić
The chamber musica ensemble Musica Viva was founded in 1998, by a group of Zagreb musicians led by their mutual interests in exploring and presenting the vast treasure of baroque music. Magnificent reactions of the audience and the panegyrics by competent chroniclers of music life, which followed the first performances of the Musica Viva ensemble, did not surprise anybody. Very simply, the ensemble gathered musicians who belong to the very elite of performing art, therefore the combination of supreme knowledge, talent and love for music could not have remained resoundless. Musica Viva, committed to performing pieces by known and unknown baroque composers, easily finds its way to the refined ear of a connoisseur as well as an average auditor who goes to a concert to fulfill oneself with new energy and optimism after a busy day at work or a day spent at the beach. On the other hand, this ensemble due to its simplicity, adaptability and mobility does not require anything special in organizing a concert. Combining first-class performance, attractive repertoire and minimum organization effort, Musica Viva brings baroque music a heartbeat away.
