TRIO OSOR, FOR THE FIRST TIME

The Trio Osor was formed on the initiative of Danijel Marusic, Director of Osor Musical Evenings, and had its first appearance at the Osor Musical Evenings this past summer (2007).
Members of the trio are Renata Penezic, flute; Petar Kovacic, violoncello; and Zarija Alajbeg Galuf, piano. Choosing pleasing and accessible pieces by F.J.Haydn, G.Piernè, J.Kaplan and F.Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, these musicians performed with the fullest dedication, in which every piece resonated with the character of each instrument.
The playful classical music of Haydn and the impressionistic and melodious music of the French composer Piernè both were performed with an expert understanding of stylistic framework. An especially good impression was left by a one-movement Bodulski tanac (Dance of Islanders) by the Croatian composer Josip Kaplan. Mendelssohn's Trio in D Minor, op. 49, in a four-movement sequence of constrasts, created an atmosphere of lyricism and devotion that is appropriate to the early-Romantic-Period texture of the German master. The density of the piano texture, and thus the high technical standards set for the pianist, as well as the lyrical lines of the flute and violoncello in their inventive dialogue, demonstrated the exceptional musical talent of the interpreters. Indeed, this was a worthy inaugural concert for this new trio on the Croatian musical stage.
